Welcome to Delta Boxers

Delta Boxers is a small kennel dedicated to the love of Boxers. We are located deep in the South, in the heart of the Louisiana Delta. Cotton production is a big part of this area and our families' livelihood. We are located just eight miles across the Mighty Mississippi River from Natchez.

Louisiana has a diverse culture; historically spanning from the original Louisiana Purchase residents to present day inclusion of every Ethic group. The Cajun Country, home of the Acadians, is just an hour and a half drive south of us, with Natchitoches, the home of the Steel Magnolia movie, a couple hours to the west on the Red River, and Creole New Orleans, home of its annual Mardi Gras is 3 hours south east. I have always had a respect and fascination for all the periods of history, and Delta Boxers' pages are a tribute to these. Matching the dog's personalities to the songs and flavor of Louisiana history has been fun with more than a few challenges. I hope you enjoy this brief tour of Louisiana history, its songs and flags as much as I did creating them.

My love for the American Quarter Horse has been part of our lives since 1964, but my association with boxers preceded that by several years. Showing horses and traveling with the family and the boxers are treasured memories. Age and weakening knees, and Louisiana heat seemed to lead me directly into showing and raising boxers. Quarter horses and boxers share so many great qualities; their marvelous intelligence, sweet temperaments, great agility and beautifully muscled conformation are just a few. Boxers have always accompanied me to horse shows so I already knew they made great traveling companions.

I started with Boston Terriers as a child and did not get my first boxer until 1955 when Jack and I were engaged. Beau came from the James Kennels in Decatur, Illinois, and was a sample of the results of their successful bloodlines. He was a true medium- sized fawn with the classic black mask and with very little white. I have lost his papers in the many moves back and forth to IL and LA; so, I cannot find his name or his bloodline. He does not appear in the studbooks as he was a most treasured companion and never bred.

I stuck with the name of Beau when in 1964 I got my next boxer. Prince Shannon Beau was a family companion and spent his time playing with the children and the cats. Since he was allergic to long hair cats we ended up with the Siamese and I grew to love and appreciate that independent cat! Many different ones shared our lives, but we had one world traveler. Beau was from the foundation lines of Ch. Jered's Spellbinder, SOM, and Ch. Spark Plug: so he was also the short muscular type with very little white and a lovely headpiece with the black mask that had hardly a touch of gray even at 12 years.

"Teddy," Brandy's Fair Flash, a deep red, very flashy fawn that was double bred from the lines of Ch. Canzonet Music Man in Longview, Texas. He actually was my brother and his wife's dog but in 1970 they were blessed with a premature daughter that took up their time; so, Teddy moved next door to live with my family and Beau. Both Beau and Teddy went to the bridge way too soon, Teddy from cancer at 4 years and Beau at almost 13 years.

It was then I started looking for an outstanding show bitch. After searching six months I decided on a flashy brindle bitch from Lois Roedel in Houston, Texas. She was the beginning of Delta Boxers in 1975.

"Dede," Roe-del's Delta Darling, was the grand daughter of "Shadrack," and out of a daughter of the male they sent to Japan, Ch. Salgray's Chance Play. She started very nicely with her show career by winning Best of Breed Puppy at her first match and a few ribbons in AKC shows, but no matter what we did she tensed up and would not eat, drink or ever act like it was fun for her. She had no such aversion to going to the horse shows with me, and we logged many miles together.

"Andy," Steinboxen's Awesome Answer, CGC became my next companion, and traveled to many dog shows even though he was not show material. He acquired his CGC his first try, loved obedience work, and should have been shown to his CD or above, but I was too busy and thought we had plenty of time. Then at 5 and one- half he showed vpc's on a Holter so we just enjoyed each other. I purchased Andy (during a period when I had moved back to IL for a few years) from a Great Dane breeder that had adopted his lovely plain dam from a home that did not fit. Sadie(link)had only one litter as Andy's breeder, Judy Stein lost her and most of her Dane's in a house fire in 1993. Sadie was a wonderful mother to a litter of 9 sired by Ch. Santi Me Jet Fighter, that was raised and shown by Tim and Sandra Mate in Chatham, IL. Jet Fighter was many time Best of Breed winner before being sold to Japan. Several of Jet Fighter's sisters have been marvelous producers, including Santi Me Encore Encore, DOM, and Santi' Me Jet Setter, the foundation for Gold Medal Boxers.

"Penny," Maxlan's Delta Diamond, sired by Ch. Schoolmaster's Easter Noah, link) and out of Ch. Shadowbox's Queen-O-Diamonds was bred by the Maxie's of Lafayette, Louisiana. Penny has been a full time party girl, and a challenge from day one. At eight weeks she had a broken leg; she healed really well, and then got into a disagreement with another bitch and received a partially severed Achilles tendon. As the vet stated, it's a good thing she heals quickly. She had two surgeries and was sound, but due to the chance of re-injuring the hock she was retired from the show ring and we hoped to do a little obedience, but anyone that knows Penny knows I say that with tongue in cheek.

"Jumper," Cresthers Somethin Special, sired by the Ch. Ewo's Tie Breaker, SOM and out of Ry-Neal's Baby Shade, sired by Ry'Neal's Blame it on Reno, a litter brother to Ry-Neal's Vision of Perfection, DOM, She got the call name of Jumper by mimicking a pogo stick in her run. She is a flashy fawn and has had a nice show career with many, many first place ribbons and Sweeps Winner at Bluebonnet Boxer Club show in 1997. In early 1998 she received a broken toe; so I decided to give her time to heal by raising a litter. She was bred to Ch. Breho Sanjac EZ Travlin, SOM and it turned out to be a great match. Check out the pictures of the litter. Jumper had to be spayed due to open pyometra, thus she never finished or had any more litters.

"Anna," Delta's Lou-EZ-Anna, a fawn girl with a little white and a true black mask with the most lovely eyes of any boxer girl I have seen.

"Goal Breaker," Delta's EZ Goal Breaker, CD, CGC is a lightly brindled, deep red flashy boxer boy that is owned and loved by the Crites' from Arkansas.

"Doodles," Delta's Doing it the EZ Way, a flashy deep red fawn with a personality that was loved by all. Doodles went to the bridge at 13 months after a long and hard battle to save him; see his story on his page.

"Dell," CJ's Strait to the Heart of Delta, a flashy very deep red, fawn male that was bred by Janet and Chuck Blalock of Clinton, TN. His sire was, Ch. Ewo's Nice and Easy, SOM, and his dam, "Ch. CJ's Double Trouble of Ewo,", who is sired by "Ch. Ewo's Tie Breaker, SOM" and out of Ry-Neal's Vision Perfection, DOM. Brandy went to the bridge in 1998, but left a legacy of eight champions, seven sired by Tie Breaker, and the 8th sired by a grandson of Tie. Dell had a very short show career as he outgrew the standard, and although well balanced just was not competitive. I made the decision to not lose his red lettered pedigree and perfect health testing by finding a bitch that would cross well with him. She needed to be a petite girl with all the finer boxer qualities and champion material. Fitting this to a 'Tee' was MyLife's Nutmeg.

"Meg," Ch. MyLife's Nutmeg, is a fawn girl with basic white markings and a daughter of Ch. Rummer Run's Lucky Strike, and her dam is Ch. CJ's Red Hot Chili Pepper, a full sister to Dell's dam Sassy. Meg is a litter sister to three other producing girls from the Spice Girls litter of nine girls bred by Jill Wilhelm in North Carolina. Meg and Dell was the cross I'd dreamed of, ** during my recovery from double bypass surgery Janet Blalock raised the litter for seven weeks, until I was able to make the trip after them. All pups were futurity nominated.

Dell and Meg's pups, known as the Southern Nights litter:

"Breaker2," Delta's Strait to the South, Breaker is staying here at Delta and waiting for his turn in the show ring. His name has a story to it and is in tribute to the Goal Breaker that Steve and Suzanne love and is 'owned' by.

"Gage," Ch Delta's Southern Heartbreaker, We are looking for good things from this guy, watch for him  and see what you think.

"Chase," Delta's Southern Pride, is owned and loved by Kim Box in Austin, Texas. He is her pride and joy and although he has the quality to make it in the show ring, Kim cannot bear to part with him long weekends. They love the water; so, be sure and see his fun pictures on the river.

"Bowser," Delta's Southern Classic, is owned and loved by Katy Parrott in Ruston, Louisiana. Katy is an exceptional young woman and loves school, sports, and showing her paint horses. Bowser accompanies her when he can and is waiting for her to get out of school when he can't. We are anxiously awaiting a spring picture of Katy, Bowser and her paint.

"Spicy," Delta's Southern Style, is staying here at Delta also. She is going out soon with Terri Galle and Robert Chaffin; so, watch her spice up their lives too! It's never dull around here with Spicy and her antics.

"Cece," also always holding a special place in my heart, but now owned and loved by Darlene Vickers of Darvick Boxers and Korrine Vanderpool of Regal Boxers, the 2 times qualifier for Top 20, many times BOB and BIS Darvick's Dreams Never Cease. See Ce's story on her page, it has been a dream to be a part of her life.

Here at Delta Boxers temperament, intelligence, and conformation all join with good health to make the boxers we all know and love. It is with great pride that I introduce the boxers with whom I have shared my life. This is the foundation for my hopes to build a reputation of raising beautiful boxers with natural intelligence and winning conformation, plus healthy well-balanced bodies.

Delta Boxers supports health-testing, results are available by request, if not posted on the pages.
